It does not matter how much time you spend in Rome. One day or one month, you will always find interesting things to do and see. Here are a few suggestions if you will be in Rome for three days:

  • Vatican City – The Holy See is where the Pope lives, and its St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel are among the most popular sites to visit. Vatican City is inside Rome. We suggest to allow yourself at least 6 hours to make the most of it.
  • Why not see more of the Eternal City’s majestic Churches? – Visit Rome’s Cathedral San Giovanni in Laterano, Saint Peter in Chains (don’t miss Michelangelo’s Moses), or Santa Maria in Cosmedin with its amazing Byzantine mosaics and the Mouth of Truth.
  • Baths of Caracalla – At the bottom of the Aventine hill are the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla, enormous buildings with huge frescoed vaults.
  • Don’t forget our Rome Day Trips, including Tivoli and the Villa d’Este, Frascati, Orvieto, Firenze, Etruscan tombs, and a day at the seaside.
  • Ostia Antica – The ancient port of Ostia Antica’s ruins are worth a visit. Inside the complex you can easily spend hours wandering around the old streets, houses and shops. Allow yourself at least a half day to spend there. In order to get there, you can take the Metro Line B to Magliana and then the Ostia Lido train. Have a look at a few Ostia Antica Pictures.
