We meet and greet our clients at the airport / pier, our chauffeur
handles
your baggage and sees you seated comfortably in the air conditioned
vehicle
of your choice. He will then drive you to Rome, all the while
giving you a commentary,
as you pass the important sites.
It is a good idea to do the panoramic tour first.
This consists of the drive by of The Theatre of Marcellus,
the oldest theatre in Rome, completed in 13 b.c.
Pass below the Capitoline Hill, the smallest and most important
of the
seven hills of Rome, with it's manificent travertine staircase
designed by Michelangelo.
Around the bend, exploding before your vision is the Monument
dedicated
to Victor Emmanuel II in Piazza Venezia.
Driving along the Via dei Fori Imperiali you will see the ancient
Roman Forum
on your left and the Forum of the Emperor Trajan on your right.
At the end of this road stands The Colosseum , started in 72ad
it was finished in 80ad.
After the Colosseum comes The Triumphal Arch of The Emperor
Constantine
to commemorate his victory over the last Pagan Emperor, The
Palatine Hill,
The Circus Maximus, site of the great chariot races..
A drive to The Spanish Steps, and then get ready to stretch
those legs!
Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain, visit The Pantheon
and stop for a quick lunch
in Piazza Navona, sit at a table in the square, in full view
of Bernini's
Fountain of The Four Rivers.
The line up at The Vatican Museums is almost non existent at
1pm
so you can start your tour. We recommend an official guide for
this tour if
you are to understand everything that you lay eyes on! Statues,
carvings, urns,
incredible antiques, tapestries, paintings by artist such as
Raffael and finally
The Sistine Chapel with it's unique ceiling by the legendary
Michelangelo.
A visit to the Cathedral of Saint Peter, this is quick &easy
with an official guide
as you can enter directly from the Museums to the Cathedral,
and do not have
to pass the security again. This tour requires approx. 2 and
a half hours
.
And then, perhaps a cappuccino and Arrivederci Roma!
